do you mean enduring?

If so, that's a loaded question.

Most people don't realize what a constant effort marriage takes. Each partner must work daily at making it work... this is hard to do with daily life and stressors combined with ignorance on how to actually be in a relationship. You must function as team, make compromises and be able to discuss tough issues, be able to debate issues instead of fight. You must also remain loyal to your partner, even during times of temptations, which all married people will face.

People think you fall in love, get married and the rest follows, but this is not the case. Its more like you fall in love, get married and start the back breaking labor of full-time commitment. You sync your goals, your finances, your parenting styles, your daily tasks, your household management and your life with another person.

Its no easy feat. Its hard as heck, but worth it.

I don't think marriages are durable because people don't want to forgive and are too self-centered.
