ya it happened many times with me too ,and when caught i feel really embarrased in such cases if the the stare is not due to hostile reasons i simply smile(inside it feels like an idiot who's caught right away) and casually glance away.

Yeah you kinda got the concept, staring / making eye contact with a girl doesn't mean the guy likes her. In MY perspective, it can mean three things: 1. The guy is comfortable talking to the girl, and is comfortable with her presence around (just friends). I plenty of friends that are girls and I always make eye contact when I talk to them, it's just casual u kno? 2. The guy wants to meet the girl / is interested in her (acquaintance). Either that, or... the girl is weird-looking or ugly lol. But still, guys wouldn't stare at a girl that long if she's like that. 3. The guy likes the girl. He doesn't know how to express his feelings, but wishes he could find a way to do so. I would tell you straight up how to tell which one of these views does a guy mean when he makes eye contact or stares, but I don't think I can. You should just.. kinda sense it. Good luck, you'll be more familiar with it along the way haha. Hope this helped ;)

Well, usually if it is of the opposite sex and you are intrigued, by all means, smile and casually look away, wait for them to look away and go right back to staring when they're not looking. As soon as they look at you again, quickly look back at the newspaper you have in your hand.lol. People intuitively seem to know when someone is staring at them so it can be a gr8 ice breaker because then you're both smiling...if the attraction is mutual of course....otherwise, things can get ugly . lol!

ughhh I hate this!

I can never tell what they mean by it, sometimes I will notice the same girl in class look over at me, and we keep catching each others stares, but I'm too embarrassed.

I always look away cause I cant tell if they are digging me or if I'm just an idiot and its random....I wish I wasn't so shy, it sucks!

If intention were not good then embarrassment is caused :-(

If intention were good then smile :-)

Normally staring more than 3 seconds is considered bad and can be objectionable. So keep a check on the time :-)

I just smile and wave. I know it would be an embarrassing situation especially if the person is someone who u kinda know but not very close to. And it would be worst if it is a person in the opposite gender. But I just smile and wave and pretend to be all cool !!!

I run. Lol.

or

Wink. Lol.

Seriously, I instinctively look away when I'm caught looking. But if I like the person, or if I sense that its a nice person, I'll try to look at her again then smile.

^_^

It depends on the person. If that person intimidates me, or otherwise has an inexpressive face, I stop looking. If the person looks communicative in any way, I feel safe enough to smile...
