Cyrus the Great, king of Persia, was wounded in a minor cavalry skirmish fought against the Derbices, a Bactrian tribe. The name of the archer who shot the arrow is not known, but the wound became infected and Cyrus died in 530 BC, being succeeded by his son Cambyses.

He fell in battle, and there are no real claims as to who did it.

He probably was just killed by someone that was also killed, so there was no fame given. Or he could have been killed by one of the unnamed masses of soldiers, in which case, no one would get the credit.
