My little girl is learning to read, and she read Green Eggs and Ham to me last night. I don't think I have enjoyed anything that much in a long time! It was so sweet that I almost cried.

Last week on Tuesday while you were reading aloud Green Eggs & ham while taking care of business .... in the bathroom I was curled up in the tub with a gas mask on ..... I enjoyed it very much ... the book that is .... even though you had some trouble on the 6 letter words .... you have a lovely speaking voice.

I am sure it was a long time ago....I know my parents read to me when I was little....but it must be at least 20 years since they read me a story. I also played tapes to get myself to sleep in the old days....and I sometimes preferred stories to music....I know that Alan Bennett reading Winnie The Pooh and The House At Pooh Corner were favourites of mine for a while....and I had other tapes as well....but I don't know if those count. In any case, it has been quite a while. I am sure I always enjoyed them.

I can't remember back that far. Do you still read to your children? I'll bet you have a very soothing voice. I think reading is a gift. I love hearing someone tell a story or read out loud. Their voice can relax you and bring your mind to a different place, just like reading by yourself can do, except their voice brings with it a personal gift from that person, a part of themselves infused with their words.

First off, Vini you are NOT a nutcase. I think it would be awesome. I don't remember anyone ever reading me a bed time story. We do have CDs that Andy Griffith made that are Christmas stories and we sometimes play them at night. Every child should have someone who loves them enough to read a good night story. Bobby Blues, I think that it is awesome that you and your lady read to each other. We miss so much when we don't *get read to*. I read to my hubby quite often and it is such a pleasure.

Last night. My 4 year old son read a book about firemen. *only because he has it memorized* Yes I enjoyed it. He may not actually read the book, but it show's that he's paying attention when I do.
