very hypothetical ques. but if it were at all possible the earth would shatter - fly apart. remember gravity attracts towards the center of a mass.

Gravity can't be lost like a couple of dollars from your pocket. It is a natural expression of the presence of any mass. Gravity exists everywhere in the Universe since its effect is infinite. According to Einstein Mass creates a spcetime curvature. Mass being responsible for bending space and time. The effect at local level is tiny and we can't see it. Where there is Mass there is Gravity and visa versa. So while the Earth exists we have nothing to worry about.

Gravity is not something to be lost or found. Gravity is an effect from a property of the universe, it isn't something disconnected from everything else.

Basically, General Theory of Relativity states that mass distorts the spacetime. When some mass is present, it curves the spacetime around it, so that when another body comes near it, it moves through the curved space and thus becomes attracted to the first body. We in our three-dimensional world can't (directly or easily) notice this curved spacetime. We just see the apple falling on Newton's head.
The effect can't be understood that well without mathematics.

So I could say that gravity exists because mass exists. The only way for gravity to go away would be for all the mass present in the universe to vanish, and since you won't be around anymore to wonder...

i do not know about earth gravity but gravity of the question has attracted many answers from space.
If earth loses gravity earth will disintegrate layer by layer in to the space, and each partcle will land at different point. At each of the landing point it will create problems knowing earthlings. and due course it will destroy the host environment

All mass has gravity for other mass. There is no way to cause earth to loose it's gravity.

If somehow the earth lost its gravity (although it is impossible without the earth itself vanishing), the earth's spinning would make us and everything else, even buildings, fly away due to centrifugal force.

if earth loses its gravity, still it will be there but moon won't revolve around us then. but if sun's gravity vanishes then theres no proof where it will go.

Why do people keep asking questions with impossible premises? They appear like clockwork. What would happen if we all grew feathers, bills, and could only quack?
