Me, I prefer the shootouts. You?

probably shootouts because you can never guess what the score will be one play before the next.... also in great defensive battles, you kind of get annoyed and anxious by the fact that there is very little scoring

it also worthy to note that great defensive battles are usually preferred by the "old school/older crowd" while explosive offensive usually is preferred by the younger generation

I prefer the games with great defense. I love the hitting, the emotion, everything about it. Although, to be clear, I'm not talking about games that end 3-0 because each team turns the ball over 6 times and has 15 penalties...those games suck because its like no one actually wants to win. I'm talking about the game that end 3-0 because defenses held firm and didn't allow the opponent to gain any yards. When defenses get into the backfield to break up runs, they get pressure on the QB when he throws, they're all over receivers making it difficult for them to catch the ball. Those are fun games to watch.

Shootouts can be fun too, but so many times I feel as soon as one team is forced to punt I already know they'll lose.

I like shootouts with awesome individual defensive plays. Give me a 42-38 final score, a bunch of bone jarring hits and a trick play or two. Thats what I want to see every sunday.

Since I always played defense, I love great defensive battles with hard hits. The goal line stop on the Steelers by the Pats was my favorite play of the night, even over the trick play.

But I have to admit that I am enough of a sl*t to prefer a lot of offensive action overall. I mean really, who does not love Brady to Moss? It's better than any poetry I've ever read for sure.

Good question!
I prefer the shootouts. I swear I was a WR in my before life (lol) and there's nothing greater than seeing the long ball - perfect spiral, slightly over- or under-thrown...it's well defended, but the reciever pulls it in anyway.
Eureka!

I do love a shootout, but when my team's defense is awesome, that is wonderful, too!

Awesome defense!! Because the next score maybe the only score. So i have to watch everything. When teams are just marching up and down the field and another game is on, i turn. i can always turn back and see another score. Like "oh they scored again"...that's great.

I prefer my team to be playing awesome defense while the offense blows the other team out.

Over the years the rules have been changed to favor the offense . I guess the NFL feels the fans prefer more scoring .
That's one of the reasons it's hard to compare teams from different eras .
