I'll keep my existing collection of DVD's but I will start to replace my personal favourites with hi-def versions eventually. Right now I'm waiting to see who wins the format war before I invest and I'd like to see the price drop a bit.
Personally I hope that Blu-Ray wins because there is just so much more storage space for the movie. Plus I've heard a rumour that Sony are working on increasing the storage space on a Blu-Ray disc from 50GB's to 200GB's - maybe we'll get "Super Blu-Ray" - lol.
But even today you can still get combination DVD & VHS video players and I can't see manufacturers trying to alienate the buying public with Blu-Ray or HD-DVD players only; even though that's what came out first they will cotton on to the selling point of hi-def players playing DVDs.

All new HD DVD and Blu Ray players upscale the old DVD's so there is no need to get rid of them
You do have to be careful with some players though as they are bit sensitive to scratches on the reading surface

I don't see the point in getting anything which is HD just yet as the tech is relatively new. You can get DVD players nowadays that will play normal DVD's but give you a HD picture and sound (called up-scaling) (provided you have HD-ready equipment). I would get a blu-ray player but i think i will wait until prices come down or if we all have to have HD stuff.

Hang them in front of my vehicle, the same as every other doughnut that seems to think they 'deflect' speed cameras.
Er, ...they don't, but they do look perty..!!
