The cost of this school is $1,134 per 4.5 quarter unit course. I have no idea what this means in terms of how costly it will be.

Ignore the other answer. There are NOT four quarters in one semester! If you are at a quarter-system school (as opposed to one with two semesters and a summer session), this means that each course costs $1,134. Most people take four courses/quarter, and go to school three quarters during the year. That means that your tuition costs would be $13,608 for the year. You need to add to that any fees that the university charges (study body association charges, parking, library, mandatory insurance, etc.) and, if you are not a commuter, room and board. Also make sure that you figure books and supplies into your expenses.

If there are four quarters in one semester that would be 4536 a semester for one unit of study or 9072 for one academic year of study. Add in dorm and meals and you will be about 20,000 an academic year plus books. And of course you still must live; clothes, laundry, transportation etc.
