There are few AGP video cards out there, I want to do my last AGP upgrade to replace an aging GeForce 5200.

The system is AMD Dual Core on a 1 gig RAM system; everything is low spec; I want a card that could play Command & Conquer 3 and 3D RTS games in all its visual, currently with that 5200 all visuals have to be tuned to minimum.

What is a good optimum AGP-based card for me to upgrade?

like the other post states...the x1950 is a good choice. If you prefer to stick with nvidia, the 7900gs is the way to go. Both of these are top-end AGP cards and will run C&C 3 without a problem. In fact, you will see a significant boost in fps from the 5200. I upgraded from a 5500 to a 6600 a while back on an amd 754 mobo and saw dramatic change. I can only imagine what kind of increase you would see with the x1950 or 7900gs.

check newegg or tigerdirect for the best prices. Stores like best buy and other tend to jack up their prices. Even so, you will have to pay a premium for the agp card since it is no longer the standard.

Well, I have an HIS x1950 256mb AGP card that I am very pleased with. I would get the 512mb variety if I could it over again. It's not a Directx10 card, but you only need Directx9 these days anyway.
