I'm not afraid of death. I'm afraid of dying.
I'm afraid that it might hurt when it happens.
I'm afraid that it will happen early and I will miss out on living a long and productive life.
The main thing is that I'm afraid because I don't know. If I knew what was going to happen - how it would feel, how it would affect the people I left behind, what happens afterwards - then I would not be afraid at all. But I don't know, so I am.
But I'm only afraid because I'm uncertain of the specifics. I'm not afraid of Death itself. Death is merely a part of life. Without death there can be no birth. I try to reassure myself by saying that it's all part of the cycle of life. But the thought of one day not being here in this beautiful world is still kind of scary. Guess I'll find out when it happens.

Fear of death is programmed by the culture. It does not have to be accepted. If you have ever, by way of OBE, observed yourself down there in bed while you are sleeping, you may sense that death wiil be like that. Just move on.
But wait, no body? Yes---just this change, just like when you drop your clothes while disrobing. Do not need a physical body. You still have mental body, spiritual body.....

I used to fear it terribly, esp when i had just gotten out of my teens (maybe the unvulnerabilty ego wore off)
but now I'm more afraid of living, of what's next around the corner.
an uncertain future is very scary. death is the end of the line. we don't know what happens when we get there, but we can almost be sure we won't feel anything.

No because death just seems too surreal from where I'm standing...i'm young, healthy and have a world of options in front of me...i just find it too hard to believe that i will one day die too, it seems like i have so much time! when it comes to death, generally i prefer not to think about it.

Not really what ever happens happens. It's life we all die someday, I pity those who believe in going straight to heaven because I believe in reincarnation. No ones prefect, but why should people but down others religion it's the same god just in different forms or terms I guess.
I'm just guessing but how ever you live your life is how your going to live it again. So be nice to people and other living things because no one really knows what happens after you die because people rely on faith and hope too much.
