My neighbour has decided to switch his mechanical santa on in the kitchen. I think it may be a clock cos every 15 minutes it flutes out an out of tune Christmas song.

What shall I do? Break in and smash it to smitereens or grin and bear it?

If u cant get away from it, get a dog temporarily from a friend and do something to make him bark as soon as the Santa starts singing.
Explain to ur neighbors the dogs problem with the santa, that he gets scared n stuff.. etc or tell em gory story abt the dog once charging at such a mechanical santa, that should do it!

Hopefuuly the dogs provoked constant barking should be reason enough for them to stop theirs.

or option2:
have a recorded voice of a real baby crying playng again and again as soon as the santa goes off.. and explain to ur guests, u have a baby over(along with some family/ppl) - trying to sleep. Everyone loves babies, and hates baby crying sounds. if still not not turn up the volume of the baby crying even louder than the santa. that shud tell it to em..

Grin and bear it Mary, its only for a while, and if he is such a cheery bloke, perhaps you will get an invite in for an Xmas drink, where you can tactfully mention that it can be heard in your house.
(tactfully remember)

You just have to break in and smash it up, and then give him a slap for having bad taste ! Poor you - that must be driving you mad.

lol
Gift him one that plays in tune!

Imagine my plight..
Have Jim Reeves fans on either side of my house who love to play his best every Christmas. Somehow, somehow, one manages to play the same cd about 10 seconds after the first.

To hear him crooning 'i'll have a blue Christmas...(echo:blue Christmas") drives my husband & me out of our minds...Little one finds it hilarious tho'!
