What colors make gold I end up with a brownish color.

Frankly the answer is no. But you can fake it ... like a good painter can fake anything with paint.

Take a look at this:

No gold even came close to that sleeve and still it looks like gold.

It is about putting one color (light) next to the other(dark) to get that reflective gold quality.

You are adding too much blue and red.

Start off with a pure yellow, then add just a **DOT** of red. Paint it on your ground and let it dry (unless you're doing it digitally.) Add a little more red until it starts to move toward orange. It doesn't take much, or you will wind up with a bronze instead of a gold.

To get the darker tones of gold, begin adding a little blue. Black would be better, but black is not a color. :-)

Gold is a really hard color to hit right. Be gentle with the red and blue (or black.)

They produce paint that uses real gold as a pigment. It is perfect, of course. However, it is quite expensive.

Worth looking into.
