This is appalling news. I have just had a little google for news on missing Madeleine and all I can find is "mayor blames parents" "negligent" "they are to blame" "they did wrong" "all posters of Madeleine removed" - This is the most disturbing.

WHY? Why are people prepared to just abandon the search for this little girl? HOW can people forget Madeleine and just shrug their shoulders and turn away?

Madeleine is MISSING and needs to be found. Not forgotten.
YES Her parents made a mistake to leave her, but does that justify everyone else, leaving her?

It's very very sad.

Stormy Sanchez. Yes I know , but dead or alive, she deserves the dignity of being found and brought home.

There are thousands of missing children who haven't received the same amount of publicity. It's very sad that Madeleine hasn't turned up & as a mother I do feel that quite sincerely. But my life does not revolve around her or any other missing child. Yes that is a selfish statement but it's an honest & sensible statement. Life goes on, that's the way it is. There is nothing I can actively do for Madeleine. What is it you actualy expect people do? Give up our jobs & homes to comb the world looking for her? The best I can do for Madeleine now is keep my own 2 children safe & in the unlikely event that I spot her, intervene or report it.
Madeleine has not been forgotten but there are plenty of missing children who have.

It's sad she is missing but it's her parents' damn fault. There are thousands of children taken from loving, responsible parents and no one gives a damn. People are complaining about the posters being taken down after seven months but most missing kids don't even get a mention for seven minutes.

I agree with Dave S. I've never seen a picture of the McCanns looking for her. Maybe the people of Portugal figure if they aren't looking then they know where she really is?

Her parents didn't stick around very long in Luz after being made prime suspects did they ?
So why should you expect all the residents of that town to put their lives on hold when the parents didn't.
There are millions of children missing as of today, I think they deserve at least one mention.
The parents would still have their child with them if they had bothered to take care of her.
If you are so concerned, I would suggest that you get off your high horse and go over there yourself to look for her, don't try and condemn a town for what was Madeleine's parents fault.

I think her parents hindered this case from the start. They did a good job of staying in the papers claiming it was to keep her in the news but it was all stories about them. Like everything it was only time beforre this became yesterdays news. I think most people are probably coming to terms with the fact that she is more than likely dead.
Also in retrospect she was only one little girl, hundreds of children go missing every week and nothing is heard about them.

Maybe you should ask yourself why the PR company havent opened their mouths since the PJ were in the UK.

It is about time this case was out of the papers sorry but its true

Yes, it's very sad. But what about all of the other children around the world that go missing every day, never to be seen again? A lot of them hardly get any media coverage.
I hate to say it, but the chances of Maddy being found alive now are very slim. I just hope they can find her eventually, even if she isn't alive, so that she can have a proper burial.

I think the media are blowing it out of proportion to make a story. As usual.

The residents of Praia de Luz just want to move on and get on with their lives as normal. If a little Portuguese girl went missing in your neighbourhood, how long would people keep the posters up?

She will never be forgotten by me. It's not that people aren't bothered about other missing children but we know what she looked like and what her little life was like before all of this. We know she had loving grandparents and friends at nursery. It is not possible to conjur up all these images of other missing children because we have no information. Also there is only so much pain an individual can bare. I never look at the newspaper headlines anymore, I have to look away from all of this speculation. I am the grandmother of a child only two weeks younger than Madeleine and my granddaughters name is Madi. How do you think I feel?

Saddening and appalling, yes. Madeleine needs to be found; no matter who killed her if she's dead or who took her if she's not, she's still out there and either her r her body needs to come home.

Loads of children go missing every year both at home and abroad. Its sad and I feel for the families, but parents should be looking after their kids properly to make sure it doesn't happen, so yeah, the parents ARE to blame. I feel sorry for Madeleine because she had parents who didn't appear to give a ****.

I think people are getting bored with it. Yes it is sad, but if her parents have given up and come back home, why shouldn't everyone else? If it was my child, and I was completely innocent, I wouldn't leave that country until she was found. Dead or alive. Unfortunately in this case, it's probably the first.
