Hi, I'm looking to get a jacket before I go off snowboarding. I've been considering the Beryllium by Mountain Hardwear vs the Sedition 2 or Pantheon by North Face.

Any thoughts people?

These are two of the best mountaineering brands there are.

The Mtn Hardware is usually a little better in terms of water proof and wind performance and usually lighter - but very expensive.

Higher end TNF gear like the ones you are looking at are also very nice and good enough for resort use - I actually prefer the heavier fabrics they use to stand up to snowboarding.

Good Luck

That depends on what product you are looking at. I would say MH over NF in soft goods like goretex parkas and windproof polartec jackets and pants. With NF, such things are a crap shoot because they have some well-designed and made models and others that are just cheap imported crap for the "outlet store" crowd that buys for label and doesn't have a clue about quality. You really have to know what you are looking at. But for tents, North Face is still a reasonably good product for the time being. Truthfully, based on equipment I own or have owned over the years, I would go with Marmot over either of those brands for a tent or sleeping bag and even for a down jacket.
