my son 13 mo, still sometime wake up at 4 am for a bottle, then sleep again until 7 am

just wondering when will kids sleep through the night

EDIT; it's not a starving issue :p (in a day, he has 3 meals, 600 ml of milk, 1 portion of fruits, some snacks (biscuits or cheesy bites), 2 cups of yogurt, 500-600 ml of water)

he usually has his dinner at 5 pm or 6 pm

200 ml of milk at 8 pm
sleep around 8.30 pm

Studies show that NO babies sleep through the night, they are trained not to wake their parents when they wake up. If your baby is still waking up at night, that simply means that you're paying attention.

Check out this article about babies and sleeping.

My son is 23 months and still wakes up about twice a night for a drink or snuggle.

My sister's daughter is the same age and has been sleeping through the night since she was around 6 months old. I told my sister about the studies done and how the kids are actually not sleeping thought the night. She stayed up one night watching her quietly and her daughter would wake up a few times and just sit in her crib quietly for up to 2 hours before falling back to sleep.

my son is nearly 3 and wakes anywhere from 4-6 am and is quite ready to get up and play! Much to my disgust, lol!
But my daughter was up at about 5.30-6 am at this age.

Try substituting the bottle of milk for a sippy cup of water (as he doesn't need to drink from a bottle at 13mths if you want to wean him to a cup) and let him have some of that instead. He might protest at first but he'll get used to it and just go back to sleep.

What time does he go to bed at night?
And does he have a bottle or evening meal right before bed time?
Try extending his bed time a little and feed him dinner about 1/2 an hour before bed so he goes to sleep with a full tummy of food not milk as this won't sustain him all night. Then give him sippy cup of water in the morning when he wakes to break the routine of the milk bottle at 4am. He is only doing it because you 'let' him and can be trained out of it with self soothing techniques.

Make sure his last day sleep is at least 4 hours from his bed time at night so he is tired enough to sleep all night.
Make bed time about 7-8pm for his age and he should get through till at least 5am eventually.
Also make sure his room is really dark with block out curtains and there aren't birds or something waking him up at this hour. (Close windows etc.. My girlfriend didn't realise there was a birds nest right next to her daughters window that was waking her up at 4.30am every day because it was singing, lol)

all kids are different but there are things you can try to help him sleep longer. Try each thing for 1-2 weeks at least before ruling it out as 'not working' as the older they are the longer it takes to adjust to the new routine.

Best of luck!

He should already be sleeping through the whole night. My daughter is seven months and she sleeps for about 10 hours. She was doing the same thing though and my doc fussed at me about it. He said to let her cry, feed her right before bed and to get her out of my bed. Taking her out of the bed did the trick for me. Good luck!

All babies develop here differently. He will sleep through the night when he's ready, and not until then. Just be patient with him, and cherish his need for you now, who knows how long it will last :)
