Change your thermostat.
Also for a little extra heat do a mix of 70% 50/50 colant, and 30% water.

Time to change out your thermostat. (the symptoms you described is a dead giveaway for this problem).

This is a common part to fail on E36/E46 cars.

Costs about $70 from bavauto.com.

Don't forget to bleed out your radiator, and, if you use anything more diluted than a 50/50 mix for your antifreeze (like one of the answerers suggested), you will get less freeze protection and could suffer serious cooling system freeze damage (radiator and hose rupture) if you get a sudden cold night...

Also, it is unlikely that this is caused by a fan failure because you would then have an OVERheating situation. You now have an "over-cooling" problem - which points directly to the thermostat.

Please check your air condition condensor fan. This must be the culprit.

good luck.
