So far I am using Zone Alarm free edition, AVG Anti-virus free edition, AVG anti-spyware free edition (mainly for its free resident shield), Spybot Searh & Destroy ( also mainly for its free resident shield, ), Spyware Blaster.
What other software programs (I prefer it be free) are highly recommended ?
Thanks again in advance.

A software that the two does what it says or does something completely diverse. A software that does what it says and is seen a trojan is a distant get entry to software.despite the fact that it extremely is used for secure practices applications it could stiil be used to attack different pc.then you definately've trojan downloaders that may acquire different malware on your equipment. There are even trojan password stealers for extremely nearly any software available.those are called psw trojans. Now a virulent disease is extremely diverse than a trojan.Viruses can reflect, trojans can't.yet another words a trojan can't deliver itself to others on your addressbook yet a virulent disease can.

If you are using Internet Explorer browser, I would suggest IE-SPYAD to prevent problems,
"IE-SPYAD adds a long list of sites and domains associated with known advertisers, marketers, and crapware pushers to the Restricted sites zone of Internet Explorer. Once you merge this list of sites and domains into the Registry, the web sites for these companies will not be able to use cookies, ActiveX controls, Java applets, or scripting to compromise your privacy or your PC while you surf the Net. Nor will they be able to use your browser to push unwanted pop-ups, cookies, or auto-installing programs on your PC."

You are probably overdoing the computer security thing as it is. Be careful your computer's performance don't take a hit. I think you should have only one spyware shield running, with the anti-virus and firewall.

virus protection software, my favorite is trend micro anti virus which cost only 19.00 at most retail stores and provides you with virus protection, spyware protection, email protection, and all the stuff you need plus one year of daily updates. much better than Norton which slows down your computer a lot more.

Firefox is one of the best secure browsers. It leads the way in online security! If you've already got it you shouldn't have to tweak it!
