Even though a spell checking program is available, people consistently misspell words, use incorrect tenses, or use the incorrect spelling of the word in emails, threaded discussions, etc.

I can understand people typing shortcuts, though not the ridiculously abstract type.

Grammatical errors however are REALLY unnecessary! I personally wouldn't bother correcting these people though. I mean, either they don't care in the first place or they've miss more than you'd care to teach them.

I suppose you could say this is a step on the evolutionary ladder of Language.

This is an example, of seriously unnessesary grammatical errors, that I found under another question:
"yeah i beat hella other dudes up and did alot of girls had sex with them and also spit on cop cars."

-Brain damage comes to mind.

I think generally the standard of spelling has declined severely over the last few years. SMS doesn't help "C U 2nite" and there are many commercial "wordplays" around like phone companies using "Fone" instead of "phone" or "lite", which seems to have popped up to replace "light" in some food products. Everybody makes minor spelling mistakes sometimes, but yes, I think consistent bad spelling should be highlighted. I always correct my kids if they spell something wrong or use an incorrect tense etc. How else are they meant to learn??

I've just thought of another one - "Kwik" instead of "quick"!

Oh, and I've had A Russian friend of mine point out a few spelling mistakes I've made before!

Personally speaking i am a terrible speller and thank God everyday for spell checker. But if i mess up and misspell a word or use the wrong word i would like to know about it so i can learn from my mistakes and improve. So i say point them out. If they get offended then that's there issue, you are just doing your job by making people better at using English.

Its relies upon on what concern, fairly. If it fairly is a sort that is heavily centred on English, then of direction spelling and grammar are meticulously watched out for. training like Math and technological understanding won't, besides the undeniable fact that Social study training could be on the fence.

People get pretty offended when you point out their faults and specifically their spelling and grammar errors on this site. Just try to ignore it. If it bothers you then just ignore the question.

Some people cannot type very well, others are answering so fast they don't check and still others are multitasking and in a hurry. Don't assume they can't spell.

If they get offended they have lost the meaning of learning. Who would tolerate an orchestra where notes were played out of key?
