the intel is better overall but if you are a gamer AMD is there go

I'd expect performance to be comparable, the Turion is clocked higher but the Core 2 Duo does more work per clock cycle (probably enough to beat out the Turion).

OTOH there is more to a laptop then the processor and you need to pay attention to the other components, if buying the slower processor allows you to afford better components in other areas it might be well worth it.

For mobile processor Intel rules and have ruled pretty much forever (AMD just provide the value line). Right now Intel also have the best products on the Desktop and Server with AMD not looking like they'll catch up any time soon (their true quad core doesn't seem up to taking on Intel's Core microarchitecture).

You'll probably also find the laptop with the Intel processor to get better battery life.
