Yeah-- I ran out of gas a month ago and I was 1/2 block from the gas station.
One guy was a total jerk and cussed me out, but then two very nice men pushed me there. I was so grateful. I shook their hands, gave them a big smile and thanked them profusely.

Um-- if I was there, I'd hand you my coat to cover up and then we'd find something to mend you up, pronto!

I've had a similar problem to yours: I was working a new job, was wearing cute black slacks to work that had a previous repair job done on them (my mother did it for me - she's so sweet). When I got out of the car at work, my daughter told me that she could see my butt. I wrapped her sweatshirt around my waist and went into work. I thought something like a stapler might do the trick: trust me, they don't. I also thought I had a safety pin: I don't. I ended up asking my new boss if she had a sewing kit: she did. It took me forever to sew up those pants in a poorly lit bathroom. When I got home I changed clothes and took the slacks to a seamstress. They're fine now - and still a favorite pair.

The only time I ask a stranger for help is when I'm in the store and I don't know where the product is.

Yes, I had to when i lived on a narrowboat, beached the boat on a tidal river so had to ask the first boat that came by to tow us off. Quite funny really as they were Dutch and spoke very little English....

I don't really know how I would have tackled your problem but if I needed a helping hand I would ask.

LOL!! Nope I've never asked any stranger to help me, It's just not the sort of area where I could ask for help!

yes I have had to ask for help a few times, mostly to push my car!

I always seem to end up with some really puny guy and feel really guilty making him push hehehehe
