I'm self employed, so it depends on how well the business is doing. I renegotiate contracts with clients every two years and ask for (and usually get) an increase. This year, I couldn't give myself a raise, because the gas prices ate up the extra income from the new contracts.

I'm a government worker in a union so it depends on our contract. I'm happy to say that our latest ratified contract gives us 2 raises in a 6-month period! But, we won't see another raise for another 2 years. Oh well......at least it's something, right? I'm not complaining.

Best wishes!

yeah, right. If I did, I'd be working hard right now instead of answering questions on Yahoo. My bosses wouldn't spring for a raise, especially every year.
