I would have to go with "The Shining"!! Nicholson is a scary man in that! He plays Jack Torrance to a tee, and just looking at Shelley Duvall is enough to scare anybody! just kidding! And those twins top it all off!

I haven't gone to the movies in a long time, so this may seem dated. I still think that the original "Jaws" was. Partly because they did things you were not expecting. The best was when the divers were exploring the wrecked ship. Because of the title, my mind was all set for a shark, but when that skull rolled out of the shipwreck, I jumped out of my seat!

Runner up goes to "Karie". At the end, it was all sweetness and light when the girl goes to visit Karie's grave, then this ghoulish hand pops out of the earth. Total surprise ending, but I don't think I jumped as high as the Jaws movie.

Evil Dead II’
The film features cult-movie icon Bruce Campbell as a hapless hero defending himself from hordes of demons. Ever been on roller coaster? That's what watching 'Evil Dead II' is like -- lots of screams
