I'm black and he's white and anytime I'm with my boyfriend people gawk at us and shake there heads.
I'll admit that I used to be the same way. I used to think it was wrong to date outside your race, but I'm actually happy. I met the man I'm with years ago and he wants to be with me.
Is it wrong for us to be together? What should I do when people stare? I'm 19 yrs old and he's 20.

Love is blind. As long as he treats you well you have a winner. Girl live your life with your man. Don't worry about what other people think of you. If we all listened to what other people said this world would be jacked up more than it is now!

i agree with a previous comment..
I'm from Melbourne in Australia and you work into the city and you literally see 100 different races and many interracial couples and it is fine. You do get the occasional stare but it is generally accepted.
I've worked in New York for a few years now and i can say that it is very different there.
Answering your question, It is NOT wrong for you to be together.
Ignore the staring and be grateful because true love does not discriminate against race, age etc.
What is wrong with dating another human being?
Best of Luck

> Is it wrong for us to be together?
Hell no, it's not wrong. It might be a bit challenging at times but it's sure as hell not wrong.
> What should I do when people stare?
Do your best to ignore it. Feel sorry for them.
In Europe you see this type of thing all the time and nobody cares. Nobody cares. It's just not a big deal. Why it should be a big deal here is beyond me.
Americans have some weird ideas about things. It's not your fault that people are the way they are and it's not your job to fix them. It's really none of your business that these idiots stare at you. It really doesn't concern you.
My only concern for you and your b/f is for your safety. Sadly, there are idiots who are so threatened that they might try to hurt you. But I hope those are few and far between and I hope you don't meet any of them.

Maybe people stare cuz your cute? I see interracial couples alot and don't think a thing of it. I think if we all mixed, we'd have a nice bronze color and there would be no need to tan :-) Who cares what other people think. I know it's hard because we all want approval but if your happy just keep your head up high, hold his hand and don't even look at those other people. Or look at them and smile. If they see how happy you are maybe they will rethink their closed minded attitude towards relationships. Yeah, when people stare just give them the biggest smile and throw in a wink!

I think for women we need to date inside and outside of our race to find the special someone to share our life with if we do not we are limiting ourselfs from true happiness. The more things a guy must have for us to date him such as be a certain race, have so much money, be a certain religon it really limits us on what good guys are out there. Once we choose to give all diffrent kinds a chance our odd increse to find the one that makes us truly happy. Women generally but not always go for guys that have a good personality and are caring especially once they get tired of the jerks. All that matters is the guy makes you happy.
Its not wrong to be with him, if anyone thinks that who cares. If your going to date someone outside of your race you can not care what others think period. I did not and I still do not. I was forbid from my family and they told me I would be dishoned. Now I know you should respect your parents but if they do not want to see me truly happy which means being with someone outside of my race then they have no respect for me and they can either respect who I choose or get out of my life.
My family accepted and I am in a happier marriage then any of them were.
As for strangers starring give him a big smooch. As for the white girls starring at him they probably think that he would be better off with them and they are jealous because they are attracted to him and as for the white guys they are probably thinking hes hung like a horse. Some Black guys are jealous and figure they own every black women but have no probs dating white women double standard and black girls probably stare because they figure hes rich.
Just enjoy and f*** everyone else.

Have a happy life!! Don't worry about those small minded people who stare. They are of no importance. Do they pay your bills? Are they anyone you are seeking approval from? If you and your boyfriend are happy. You shouldn't give a rat's @ss what anyone else thinks. As far as what you should when someone stares at you. Grab your man and plant a long wet kiss on him. Then look at those on lookers and tell them to eat their hearts out...............Good Luck and Be Happy

there is absolutely nothing wrong with being with him. I am a black man married to a white woman. people look at us funny, say stupid things and try to discourage us all of the time. the thing is, we love each other and we are happy. if that is what you and your man feel then i am very happy for the both of you. it's about time that america started to change. I hope you and your man have a wonderful relationship.

Ignore them. Smile at them. They have nothing to do with you and you do not need their approval. I bet that they are perfect. It is not wrong for you to be together. It is not anyone elses place to decide what is best for you. There are a lot of close minded bigoted people out there. You just have to ignore them. Make yourself happy. No one is going to do that but you. They should not be so judgmental.

I don't know where you live, but move to Australia!!
we don't judge anyone by race over here and it's perfectly NORMAL to see HUNDREDS of interracial relationships.
there is nothing at all wrong with interractial relationships and it gets me so worked up when i hear stories of misplaced judgement like that.
you should be dammed proud that you two found eachother!! true love is hard to find

i live in Michigan and i am in a interracial marriage and i don't have that problem maybe your level of confidence might be the problem or your lack of contentment i never look to see if anyone is staring because i truly don't care. so pay attention to your vibes you are sending out or your to much concern about it i just go on my way and ignore any and everyone.
