There isn't any way of measuring 'purest' in this context, because there is no definition of 'purest' that makes sense here. You can talk about purity in contexts like the purity of a chemical (freedom from contaminants) or the purity of a colour (spectral range), but the purity of an art form cannot be described in such terms. Try saying 'painting is purer than sculpting because...'

You could say things like 'dance is older than poetry' because in evolutionary terms our ancestors could move before they developed language. Poetry is probably older than writing, and will have its roots in ritual. Poetry is a way of remembering and transmitting information without writing.

I suspect that the most you can say about these arts is how you rank them in terms of personal interest and reaction.

Nonetheless, it is an interesting and thoughtful question.

They are all good and necessary forms of art. I personally choose to engage in music the most, but I appreciate all of them.

I feel at my most purest whan I read poetry or when I am making sculpturally, but I cannot ascribe purity to something outside myself.

That kinning guy above me just stole my words.

So what am I left to say?

I guess that it is subjective and relative.

But then again, as this person just said, there isn't a way to meassure how pure an art is.

i wouldnt say dancing cause it's been corrupted by stupid mainstream rappers maken up stupid dances, and i wouldnt say wrighting, painting or acting cause theyre to cop up in the fame, but poetry/ professional poetry will always be something to enjoy, or listen to when your in the mood. i wish i could say the same about todays music......
