Hey, I'm looking to buy an external hard drive to store music and a lot of videos just in case my computer asplodes, but I don't know what deal to buy online though since I'm not sure if the product is any good or if it's worth the price. I'm looking to spend less then 100 dollars, thanks in advance.

Personally what I did when looking to save money on an external hard drive was to buy a hard drive and a hard drive enclosure separately then put them together myself. When it comes to brand I would always go with Western digital and if you buy them separately you can buy direct from the manufacture at www.westerndigital.com and save lots of money. If you have a newer computer with a firewire connection you can get a SATA hard drive but if you are using an older that doesn’t have firewire you have to go with IDE which connects via USB (MUCH SLOWER NOT RECCOMENED UNLESS YOU HAVE TO). You can buy your enclosure on eBay just search for SATA hard drive enclosure and pick the one that looks best to you. You can save up to $200.00 doing it this way

Since you have put that price limit you will need to shop and see if it is cheaper to buy an all in one or a case and disk seperately. I always find good prices at the below site. They are competitive on in demand items and are very reasonable on older items.

you do not fairly ought to fret approximately speed for a backup force. Reliability and area are the main important matters. I back up each thing to a G-Tech force on a typical foundation. they are somewhat extra high priced, yet they are via the a tactics appropriate. not basically do they contain each and all the cables (FW800, 4 hundred, ESATA, & USB) they are additionally particularly stable.

Try a 2.5 inch external enclosure for around $10:

And a 160GB 2.5 inch drive $92:

It makes for great portable storage. It will even fit in a shirt pocket.
