Humans don't have the sixth sense.

If you want to believe in a sixth sense then there you are. However, what most think of as a sixth sense is full explained now, by research in psychology. And what is this about other creatures not having it? Study you biology and psychology, the answers are there.

Also Derren Brown. He makes a living mimicking what most would call sixth sense.

By the way - as soon as you start to study psychology, you will discover that we all have a lot more than 5 or 6 senses.

One explanation for a 'gut feeling' is that when we talk to people 80% of the information we take in is body language (NVC). This is at a subliminal level and therefore we are not aware of it.

Evolutionary theory is part of science and, as such, is in the business of providing causal explanations about physical forces. The sixth sense will only be explained using evolution if we can devise a physical causal explanation, or if science eventually allows nonphysical explanations.
Besides, scientists would first look to see if something like the sixth sense is actually an ability that humans have (probably in some sort of lab setting). Then, if deemed plausible, theorists may get to work devising possible evolution-based explanations.

There are actually many possible scientific explanations.

One could be that since humans generate an electro magnetic field(All living things do to varying degrees), we may eventually be able to "feel" if something disrupts this. Like iron fillings around a magnet form a pattern that changes when you introduce another magnet. So say i sneak up on you, you'll feel my presents because my emf comes into contact with yours.

Also, part of our body(maybe the soul) could exist in another dimension but in the same space that we occupy. Obviously we cannot hear, feel, smell, touch, or taste anything in that dimension(for all intensive purposes it doesn't exist). Now could we possibly evolve to receive a new sense from that dimension? How would we define it since we can't hear, feel, touch, taste, or smell it?

There are actual infinite possibilities for every possibility so in thery, anything's possible.

I always thought that the 6th sense was that "gut feeling" that you get about something. In my way of thinking, it might be your own conscience weighing alternatives when making choices about something. For some, the 6th sense might be what they feel is God guiding them through their lives. Howver you define it, I do think that there is some kind of higher connection between body and soul and mind that creates this 6th sense.

This sense must have been part of the "package" as the human brain became more and more developed. Being in touch with that inborn ability depends on whether or not a person is "left-brained or right-brained".

Perhaps some day, when empirically proving that a sixth sense exists is possible, we will also be able to examine it from an evolutionary stand point. Until then, it can't be explained. :)

By the way, I think my cats have it too. ;)

You're going to have to remove evolution from the sentence to get an answer to this question.

What? My goodness sakes. Don't you understand that other creatures have the 7th sense?

Seriously I doubt they can. I mean ordinary mortals such as ourselves (non scientists) can not answer that question.

I am pretty sure there is no such thing as a 6th sense no matter how convincing someone is that says they have one...
