I was a teen before. I drank HEAVILY when I was 17 and actually ended up getting a DUI at that age. I knew plenty people to buy it for me actually I was dating an ex bartender for a while and my parents suspected and sometimes knew and were furious. I drank in the park, at the house party, on the highway or driving around. I normally drank the cheapest vodka I could find (bartons 1.75 liter for $10) as time went on I could no longer stand clear liquors and went to whiskey when I could afford it. I would not recomend it if asked, but I would not go back and change it.

I did drink a fair bit when I was a teenager (now 22), I started buying it myself at about 15 or 16 - the legal age is 18 here and in the smaller shops they're not really even particularly fussed about enforcing that much (or at least they weren't seven years ago).
ironically Im not actually not that much of a drinker now im fully legal, but I do occasionally like to indulge and go a bit silly =)

We were served wine and beer as children at the dinner table.
We were taught to drink responsibly. One or two glasses with supper, that's it. A drink of brandy or cocktail on festive occasions. Getting drunk is never an option(except for fools).
I'm sixty two and cannot remember when I was given my first drink. My parents never ever refused me if I asked for a little wine. But if I started to get a little oozie, I went to the bedroom
until I was able to conduct myself in a reasonable, and responsible demeanor. People need to teach their children the social graces. It is done with love, compassion, and discipline.
And no one should ever drive a vehicle or operate machinery even after only one drink.

AFTER THOUGHT: Because I was never denied alcoholic beverages, it was never a temptation for me. I actually prefer
diet cola because of the pick up you get from the caffeine.
