last night a huge rat is already trapped in the trap. what should i do? or usually people do to kill it. im planning to pour it with hot boiling water to kill it. Oh yeah.. i hate rats n im freaked out by it.

the boiling water should work-just make sure there is a big pot of it as they are fairly resilient creatures.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you set that rat free to live another day---they Cary diseases and fleas that can make humans very sick(the plague,back then)and make life miserable to a lot of people.
You could just whack it with a shovel but beware they scream like cats(i have never shoveled a cat).
I would pour a few pints of BOILING water over it to dispatch the rodent

So the rat isn't dead already? I would choose to kill it in a humane way, if I were going to kill it. You might even consider taking it to a place away from homes and releasing it there, rather than killing it. But if not, a quick blow to the head would be much better than boiling water, I think.

Boiling water? Are you really into animal torture?
If it's a snap type trap, just whack the thing with a shovel.
If it's a cage type trap, drown it in a big water bucket.
Do be careful. If the rat manages to bite you, it's
rabies shot time. (No fun at all.)

Kill it, dismember it, and scatter it's parts around the house as a psychological warning to other rats

Put it in a bucket of water and fill it. Next time take you time and figure out what your going to do.

NO DON'T kill the poor thing!!! You can have pest removal people come to your house and let it go, but please do not kill a helpless creater. Please it only wanted some place because its freazing out and hard to find food but please DON'T kill the rat. Use a human trap and set it free. Rember the story about the lion who lets the rat live and stuff just please DON'T kill the rat. =(
