It depends on the shape of the fruitcake. If it is rectangular, like a loaf, then I have used them to replace some loose bricks on my doorsteps. If it's round, whether solid or a bundt type shape, then they are great for target practice. Other than that, the door stop sounds good. You might even use it in a basket or a flower pot to stick flowers into, sort of like using the Styrofoam. But honestly, I have never had a fruit cake that I could stomach. They have come in handy in the past, at least for me, in weighing down my garbage can, so that the wind or animals don't tip it over.
