Friend told me no one does anymore save for a few. I help the Make A Wish Foundation when I get the chance.

Make a Wish is where I help out, it's my favorite organization. I also volunteer at the local animal shelter and sometimes I fill in at Meals on Wheels.

Not any more.
My wife and I started a volunteer fire department many years ago. She was an EMT, I was the board chair and a fireman. I also used to do search and rescue and tracking for the Sheriff's Office, spent two years on the Grand Jury, and did some restoration of historic objects for the County Museum. Used to do patrols for the State Department of Forestry. My wife was Smokey the Bear in school programs in the early 70's. We manned a fire lookout during the paid lookout's days off. And of course Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and 4H.
Now I feel that it's somebody else's turn.
50+ years of volunteerism was enough.

I'm not able to right now because I don't have transportation, but as soon as I get my license I'm planning on doing it once a week, or at least once every other week!
It makes me feel great knowing I've made someone else's day just a little bit better.
Oh and kudos to you for helping out at Make A Wish! What all do you do there?

Yes I do. I volunteer at the hospital, and was involved in Key Club and NHS when I was in high school. Those two clubs are all about volunteering, and we had so many students in there wanting to make the world a better place for people who can't do it for themselves.

I deliver meals once a week for people with aids and other critical illnesses.
My friend volunteers with me and she also tutors once a week for an hour,volunteers for a hospital gift shop.
My husband volunteers as a children's advocate in the court system and he reads stories to two classes at a neighborhood school.

I volunteer each week at our local animal shelter. I'm scheduled to clean kennels on Christmas eve and Christmas day.
And I make all my friends volunteer for all the fundraisers I organize.
I've always volunteered, ever since I was a candy striper in 6th grade.

Yes but not currently. For years I have helped the local university voc rehab center... helps handicap students. Like one year I took detailed notes for a deaf student.

I host a radio show on a community station, and it's the best buzz. No matter what kind of mood I'm in, once those mics go on, I'm feeling good.
