I carefully removed it with a cotton swab tonight but I have no idea how long it has been there b/c I've never noticed (or looked) there prior to his bath.

If it was diaper rash cream, the last time I applied any was the last time she incurred a rash, which was last week. I don't apply it regularly b/c she does not usually rash from her Pampers.

Was this anything else?

A few times when she poops and it has ended up inside the vulva which then I've had to take a clean wipe and gently remove. So now I'm wondering, infection???

The residue is now gone but I notice that inside the lips, about half of her outer vagina is actually dark, black. Is this normal for girls? She squirmed around her tub a bit while I was cleaning it but she is not crying now and shows no signs of discomfort.

Is this anything?

OMG, everyone is like freaking out, i have a two month old daughter myself and noticed the same thing when she came home from the hospital. Female babies have the same thing as all women, " Female Discharge" . Call your doc and he will tell you the same thing. I was concerned to and the docs all told me the same thing. Do not dig it out with a q tip, her vagina will cleans its self. Do not freak out! my faince did the same thing. But the docs will tell you do not dig it out. It is not a yeast infection unless it is a cottage cheese discharge, She is fine

Check on WebMD for details but sounds like a yeast problem. It is normal. It still could be some of the diaper rash cream too because it gets trapped. This is normal. Just don't put baby powder in her diaper! I've heard moms do that & it's not good! WebMD gives links that help. I have 2 kids & use it. Ask the Dr. to check on the next visit or if she gets a fever, the area gets bigger or worsens or is in pain then make an appointment. Untreated infections can cause more serious problems.
Hope this helps.

I've been to the pediatrician today for the well-baby-check -up.
I noticed the same white residue in my daughters vagina and asked the pediatrician about it. As there was no irritation and no discomfort for my daughter the pediatrician told me to just clean the area inside of the lips with water and that it was nothing to worry - just residue from not cleaning thoroughly. I asked specifically how I should clean the inside of the lips because I didn't want to cause any irritation, that's why I haven't wiped there, except when excessive poo got there, too.
But the discoloration sounds like nothing I've ever heard of and therefore I would take your daughter to the pediatrician, while there you can ask (just to be sure) about the white residue.

This has to be a joke the way you say that you were impregnated, it makes no sense to me. That does not even seem legal. And then at the beginning you say you and your dear husband, but in the second paragraph you say your boyfriend and that the real dad is not around. This has to be a joke. But if it is not, I would just use Hallejah (pronounced Ha-lay-juh) that would be a cuter rendition of the name you like. Well take care.

it sounds like it's just the residue of the white stuff that coats the baby inutero. My daughter is two weeks old and still has some in there the dr told me to leave it alone
*sorry no technical word I'm having a brain fart )

I would definitely take her to the doctor. More than likely it is just a yeast infection. Which one of the causes is using diaper rash ointment too liberally. It causes bacteria to grow. If it is a yeast infection, you'll have to get a prescription from the doc anyways. An infant yeast infection is different from an adults. Even baby boys can get them. And apparently, babies can get them in there mouths too.

It might be a bit of a yeast issue. If she doesn't seem to be messing with it, or uncomfortable... then don't worry. My daughter had that once in a while too. Keep the area clean. When you change the diaper, use a wipe to make sure the area is kept clean.

Ah the daddy syndrome. I imagine this is what females go through with their baby boys... inspecting every crevice and freaking out over every discoloration.

I'd say the only irritation she may have experienced was from the wiping/cleaning.

However if you are concerned, nothing can be hurt from scheduling an appointment with a doctor to take a look at it.

its normal discharge and youre not supposed to clean it out. many are darker in color on the inside. its ok, next time don't clean it, just rinse with warm water and use a wet cloth for the outside and of course gently wipe away any poo.

It's sounds like it's a yeast infection but you should contact your doctor especially about the black part.
