I'm a high school student and looking to buy a laptop. A fairly cheap one, in the $700 - 1100 range (NZ currency) but not a mac.

It would be for playing some games, a medium amount of music but mainly stories and assignments.

What are things that I should look out for when deciding?
And could someone explain some of the basic techinical language?
Lol I feel like a noob.. :P

Whats the minimum amount of space I should buy, in your opinion?

Oh! And what's the difference between a notebook and a laptop?

Please and Thank You [:

If you want to play games you'll need a decent graphics chip (not Intel integrated junk nor any of the integrated graphics chips that aTi and nVidia make for AMD processor notebooks).

In general an AMD processor will probably be cheaper but watch out as you can't just assume that any graphics chip by aTi and nVidia is good (as you can in Intel processor laptops where Intel provide the low end graphics chips and aTi and nVidia only provide the mid and high end chips).

The minimum amount of space you should buy would be what you can afford to get.

Laptop and notebook refer to the same thing (i.e. there isn't really a difference).
