For breastfeeding its usually done on demand but you can try and put them on a schedule if you want.
Usually about 2-3 hourly is a good base line for the first week or two and thats night/day as well. Each feed is for about 1/2 an hour at least in the beginning. As they get bigger its 3-4 hourly and so on. By 3 mths it should be 4-5 hourly in the day and 2 feeds a night.
Each baby is different though and some go longer and some go shorter. You will work it out fairly quickly don't worry!

If you choose to bottle feed it can be 3-4 hourly in the beginning as formula can fill them up a little better. But then you have the added annoyance of sterilising not to mention the cost of bottles and formula etc....
Breastmilk is 'on tap' so to speak and so good for you and bubs! With no cost and mess!

best of luck.

Are you going to be breastfeeding or formula feeding? I believe that babies can go longer between feedings if they're getting formula. I breastfed my daughter, and was told to nurse every 2-3 hours for the first two weeks and to adjust to her needs as she changed her sleeping patterns.

Every 2-3 hours when they are hungry. It starts to stretch out after a month or so.

Congrats!

You should nurse on demand. It's important that you educate yourself as much as possible about newborn care and breastfeeding BEFORE your baby arrives ----to make your life, and your baby's, easier.

I recommend buying "The Baby Book" by Dr. Sears and reading it.

Also... buy an educational breastfeeding DVD so that you can SEE how to get baby latched on properly and notice the signs of hunger.

Here's one....

It makes life so much easier.

Congrats on the forthcoming arrival. Best wishes!

whenever the baby cried, but it was around every 2 to 3 hours, some times more, sometimes less.

every 2 hours remember that if you fomula feed then she might not be that hungry because fomula is harder todigest and breastmilk is easier it goes in and comes right out some have lots of diaper ready

Congrats!
It all depends on your child.
If you are breast feeding the baby will typically need to eat every 2 to 4 hours, about 15 min on each side.
If you are bottle feeding, they eat about every 4 to 6 hours.

They will let you know when they are hungry and it is important to feed them whenever they are hungry.
