Really need to know. Clergy doesn't seem to have a clue. Kinda out of their realm, although, that mystifies me. Contacts besides clergy would be appreciated. Thanks. Nancy

This is a very good question. I consider myself a "believer"--I am open to channelling and other ways to connect to spirit (forms of Divination, etc.)--BUT, although I am a believer, I am a skeptic believer. As a believer, I am probably MORE skeptical and critical of so called channellers and psychics than many people. I have attended sessions where I felt that the whole thing was staged/fake. All these people where listening to every word, even recording it, and I thought, "this is crap." On the other hand, I have been to people who I felt were genuine and honestly channelling.

How can I tell the difference? I can't explain it. . . I just know. I tried to explain it to someone--and used the word resonate. If it resonates true, then I believe. If it doesn't resonate with me, I don't buy it. But why should anyone take my word for it or believe me? My advice to people: be open minded, but allow yourself to feel the energy,. If it doesn't ring true for (ie. if it doesn't resonate with you). . . then it probably isn't. If it does resonate true for you. . . then it probably is. And, when things do resonate with me, and I believe . . .I feel no need to convince others. I could care less if someone else "believes" me or not.

ADDED NOTE: 'ana' explained it very well. It is energy from the outside. . . she used the word 'push'. . . For me it is like a push or pouring through my crown chakra into me. Good explanation.

Can't give you a definitive answer, but maybe you'll understand better afterwards.

How does anyone know anything? You experience it. The knowledge you have comes into your mind through one of your five senses. By definition, channeling involves extra-sensory experiences. Thus, if you experience something but you can't identify which of your five senses gave you the experience, you can't know "for certain" that you were channeling or merely hallucinating.

Strangely enough, some "religious experiences" seem to involve extra-sensory events. I guess the difference between "channeling" and a "religious experience" depends on the entity who's making an impression on you. If you "channel" someone who's not religious (like the Holy Spirit) but merely mortal (like your dead uncle), the difference is semantic. Both events are extra-sensory, and not subject to scientific verification.

Not sure what sort of clergy doesn't understand this concept. Many religious have an excellent grasp of psychology and are extremely well-educated.

Try a different clergyman.

hello nancy i am ana. I am a channeler or medium. You know you are channeling when you feel an energy outside of yourself. A push so to speak. The more you channel the better you get. I have one rule though , make sure you have a spirit guide or guardian for your mind so that random spirits dont make an appearance. feel free to contact me off answers for a chat.

Hello Nancy

Channeling is a wonderful spiritual tool. You know that you are channeling due to the clarity & truth of what is being passed through, at times it may even be about things that you don't understand.

It is also an easy ability to develope.

You know when something comes out of you that you would not normally say and you ask where the heck did that come from! Least that is how I know I channel sometimes without even knowing it and I am like talking to someone and this calm comes over me and I say something wise and smart beyond my years. and they look at me strangely, and I wonder where the heck did that come from.
