I love everything about a song. I'm one of those rare 17 year olds who listens to every genre of music...well, except rap, because the lyrics are trashy, they don't actually sing, and it's just all beats.
But everything else....everything else just gets to me in a way that's somewhat hard to describe. When I listen to a song for a first time, I usually have to listen to it twice...once to hear it, and another time to really listen to it. When I listen to music, I listen to it loud...not to block out the rest of the world, but so that I can be completely enveloped in music. I listen to the guitar, the bass, the drums, the singer's voice....everything together, everything seperatly. I am a big fan of guitar solos, and if a song doesn't have one, that is ok, it's still music, and a heck of a lot more than I could ever do. Music is my passion, so it's kind of hard to describe what exactly happens when I listen to it....but I enjoy every second of it!
Here are a few songs that I have been crazy about lately:
Cry Baby Cry- Santana, J.C. Chasez, Sean Paul, and Joss Stone (It's got an awesome beat, and awesome gutiar riffs/solos)
The Shake (Awful Feeling)- My American Heart (awesome guitar!)
As I Am- Alica Keys (my god...her voice....)
Tattoo- Jordin Sparks (lyrics!!)
Last Of The New Wave Riders- Utopia (lyrics and guitar)
Rockstar- Hannah Montana (Guitar....there is a sweet solo too!)
Take A Breath- Jonas Brothers (Sounds nothing like the normal Jonas Brothers songs...)
Dangerous- My American Heart (a new band actually has a guitar solo...?! that's why I love it)
Here In Your Arms- Hellogoodbye (lyrics)
Brown Eyed Girl- Van Morrison (awesome bass line)
Meet Me At Midnight- Violation (everything is great)
They are all awesome songs with amazing musicianship, and the ones that I can play on guitar are a blast to play. I like everything about all of those songs, but what I put in parenthesis is just what I especially enjoy.
There is just so much that I want to say about what attracts me to a song when I listen to it...but I just can't find the right words...so hopefully this answer wasn't too confusing....
What about you?

What a great question.
Initially I am attracted by the instrumentation. Yes, enjoy a melody that moves me, but the role each instrument plays matters a great deal to me. I like to take them apart while listening to the song, and listen to each instrument play as if solo, then absorb the chorus of instruments playing their parts in unison to make this wondrous melange turned song.
After that, I pay close attention to vocalisation/singing and lyrics, if the vocals, lyrics and music are as poetry together (to me), I usually want to hear it over and over again, and can't get enough of it for quite some time.
I love when songs have instrumental flights of fancy and solos, or when the vocalist seems to go into a journey and simply let him or herself go in a song, not necessarily sticking strictly to the typical songwriting structure of verse, chorus, hook, but also feeling the music, expressing and evoking emotions through their voice, some people I've heard do that often in their songs and whose voices I really like are Bjork, Bille Holiday and Thom Yorke (although there are countless others).
Not that I don't like the structure sometimes, these make the songs memorable and catchy, but I appreciate freedom in music, whether it be the instrumental aspect, vocals or songwriting.

The lyrics and a good beat...depends on what my mood is at the time. Any song that can get me moving is a good song!

Everywhere I've been and everything I am, I think. I'm just a rare case, who will listen to any genre...I think the lyrics are extremely important to me, though.
