T.V set, when you only get one?

It is called a TV set because when they first started making them that is how it came. Originaly, back in the 1940s, it wasn't a single unit. What you bought was a set of components. One component was the receiver. One component was the speaker. One component was the picture tube. Each of these was a seperate peice that you set up and plugged together with wires running between them for the complete set to function.

Maybe it's because other than the remote, you get an antennae ( who uses it anyway ) as well ?

Because they're so heavy, once you set it down you don't want to move it again.
