REM vs the Cure
I love both these bands...Disintegration by the Cure and Automatic For the People by REM are both masterpieces; but the fact that REM did Murmur, Life's Rich Pagent, Document and Out of Time as well gives them the edge. Sonically the Cure were trendsetters, but REM was almost Dylan-like lyrically with their social conscience. REM
Pet Shop Boys vs Depeche Mode
Even though Depeche Mode left a bigger imprint and Music For the Masses and Violator were great works, the Pet Shop Boys made amazing dance music with clever heartfelt lyrics melted into infectious melodies...TIE!!!
No Doubt vs Police?
A landslide! Ghost in the Machine made them THE BAND of the early 1980s (along with the Clash)...until U2 passed them both by. POLICE
Psychedelic Furs' Forever Now...still sounds amazing after 25 years, but I've seen the Red Hot Chili Peppers Live and they ROCK...a long body of work... Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame worthy...gotta go with the CHILI PEPPERS! Californification!
