I'm sorry, but Lil Wayne is overrated beyond belief. The only things I will say are that the guy can spit beats off fast and he can make some ill metaphors. So that's half of the rap game. Being able to spit dope rhymes but still maintaining a fresh beat.

Now what Lil Wayne should improve on is putting some actual MEANING into his lyrics. I know all yall gotta agree that some of his **** is wack. "I ask my momma if I can get a teardrop tattoo"...wtf?

But seriously, Lil Wayne does have SKILL. He just needs to refine it. He can be a threat if he put meaning into his words and focused on social issues.

that's because of the fact human beings basically hear to lil waynes mainstream songs that are with massive stars. his underground previous stuff became sick albums including: the drought is over 4, 5 i disagree that lil wayne is making a rock album nevertheless. i presumed mr carter off the carter 3 became an excellent music. yet that is my opinion dont hate.

you don't say they have meaning...I say they have feeling beyond most of the artists you are giving phantom masturbation to on this question...

Yes he says a bunch of bull ****...i say it's our fault for letting this **** be what gets him in...gillie tha kid schooled the kid on how to get out of the old hotboyz type rhyming he was doing and add the character wayne was always trying to manifest on the old cash money younger days...

so now he's on his own level of exploration, how he does it is through dropping a mixtape a day, so be it...

cause you walked around at least one day this year singing the duffle bag boy hook...

So what I'm saying is, in his experimentation ******** he drops, when he gets something to stick, that **** sticks hard...

go DJ!

but stop kissing baby wayne, serious...YAAH!

Most new rap has lost the meaning. You gotta go old school. It's all about booty shaking in the club now. Nothing meaningful to say. I like his style but you've gotta have something REAL to say.

his songs don't have that much meaning to it...Pretty much all he raps about is drugs, money and hoes......However i can't seem to stop listening to him....His beats are ill and he flows nicely..I think if he added some meaning to his songs then he could be considered the best rapper ever before he retires from the game

I hate to use the word overated because it is not the artists fault to be that. We label them as society.

I get what you are saying though. My favorite verse was from Sweetest Girl. It was actually clever with him still using his technique of punches.

yes. All of his skill is in his delivery and his ability to make metaphors..how does that make him the best rapper alive? I have no idea.

True that I think he even one time said it himself that he is the greatest rapper of all time, but then again alot of rappers nowadays say that. But the point is he is overated as hell.
