Does anyone know how i can increase it. Ive been taking fenugreek but it doesnt seem to be working, and i dont want to stop breastfeeding... Please help.

Also a few days ago i broke my foot so ive been pumping because of the painpills. and im having surgery on friday and wont be able to feed her any milk for 2 days.. any advice?

Thank you

The pain pills will be drying up your milk, I know you have to take them because of the pain, but it is one of the side effects. I understand you don't want to stop breast feeding but I would keep on persevering and supplementing with formula until you have had your Op and you are recovering. Then concentrate on getting your milk supply back up. You will have to work hard and drink lots of water and keep feeding and pumping. Once you have come out of recovery then get the breast pump and keep pumping while you are in hospital until you are allowed to breast feed again, It is just going to take time and commitment, which from the sound of your question you are committed.

Remember though if it gets too difficult you have tried very hard and done your best and don't feel bad about it. You are a good mum and very concerned about your child's well being.

This is a time when milk production switches from hormonal based to supply demand. A baby is much more efficient then a pump at getting the milk out. How is she acting when she is nursed? Is she having enough output (wet and dirty diapers)? How often are you nursing her? Why can't you feed her for those 2 days? Most pain medication is fine with nursing and you can be firm with your Dr to get something that is compatible

The best way to get your supply up is to nurse her as often as possible.

good luck

You need to be drinking more fluids.. Like milk and watered down juice.. Take your prenatal vitamins and pump whenever you can that will help keep your milk supply up... Pump and freeze your breastmilk for when you have surgery.... Good luck

pumping often should increase the milk supply... even if she isnt drinking it right away freeze it but that should help but make sure you are getting enough nutrients for you and to supply the milk for your daughter
