I am not one of those who believe that in order 'to be an artist' is necessary 'to be crazy'. I think that true art is a matter of discipline, exercise, gifts ... The world has this strange idea because Artist are 'out of the schemes', sometimes they can even renounce to a well-to-do-life for their art, so the world of ordinary people call Artists 'mad' ... as for me there is no madness in a true Artist, there is just sacrifice, self constraint, and ... sorrow.

Being crazy is not looking at the world the same way "normal" people do, so I'm betting it is only successful artists.

The successful ones are crazy or eccentric. Georgia O'Keefe was pretty well on her rocker, though.
