I think it could be considered cheating, even if there is no talk of sex. It really depends on how you feel about the woman. If you consider her a friend no biggie. But if your emotionally involved with her then I would say yes its cheating.
Are you asking because your wife says it is cheating or are you asking because you feel its cheating? If your wife has a problem with it then why cause the problem. If you have no emotional attachment to this person just stop talking to her.Your marriage should be more important than your friend.
But if you are asking because you think its cheating then you probably are.

If a man is chatting on the internet with a friend that he has know for years or a female relative then it is not cheating.
If if talks casually to another female online(ie in a chat room)it isn't cheating but if he arranges a time to be online night after night to talk to a woman who is not his wife, whether or not they are talking about sex, in my opinion it is cheating.

Honestly I think it is up to your spouse or significant other, and your own personal intentions. If it is just friendly chat, then there is no problem, but i think when you get into the sexual chat that is where there begins to be a problem. It just brings up questions like why would you need to seek that attention from another woman? Why not just talk this out with your significant other, and see if she can give you the attention you so desire.

It depends on whether you are chatting, or flirting, doesn't it?
Are you talking to her, or also fantasizing about her?
Are you talking sex or not talking sex? (Forget "With or without")
Are you spending time and emotion on this woman that you owe to your current present love interest?
If there is a seuxal thought or talk - yes, you are cheating.
If there is an emotional connection you owe to someone else - yes, you are cheating.
You know the answer, so why are you trying to get a permisison slip from YA?

If you are chatting about sports, the weather, life in general then I would say no. If you are talking about problems with your wife, or are having sex chat, in my opinion, yes I would consider that a form of cheating.

It's not cheating if you're just having a normal conversation like about weather, games, sports, hobbies, and stuff like that. It is considered cheating if you're having cyber sex or anything like that because you're emotionally somewhere else rather then with your partner.

If the conversation gets sexual, and you talk constantly and intimately it could be labeled cheating. If you get too caught up with the dirty talk, it could turn into physical cheating.

Would you do/say the same things on the Net if your wife was looking over your shoulder? If yes, its not cheating. If no, then yes, you are. Because if you wouldn't do it in front of her, (because you know it would hurt her) and still do it anyway, its cheating, because you KNOW its wrong.
So its up to you to decide.
