I know someone who is pursuing both EFT and a particular type of accupuncture (that goes to remove emotional blockages in the meridians) with very good results. This guy had been beaten as a child and suffered nightmares late into adulthood. He's been making real progress lately with the above techniques.
For myself, I find that if I release the energy in the body associated with a trauma it helps tremendously. For example, rolfing can be very good for that.
Good luck to you! Your determinated is fantastic!

It only scars the tragically unprepared students. It's where the all the poor education of the past catches up to them. It's the bar that will not be lowered or altered to let a student sneak by. They have to make the jump and clear the bar, or they have to start over. Don't blame the class. Blame all the classes and teachers who were willing to promote you to the next level without being prepared for it. I experienced some of these teachers, but I was fortunate enough to get a couple of English teachers who maintained a high standard, so that I was well prepared for this course. I passed all of my college English courses with easy A's on my first attempt, which I know that I wouldn't have been able to do without those good teachers in my past.

I don't know that I have had PTSD. Although I have gone through some pretty awful stuff and there are a number of strategies that have helped me. Sometimes when the thoughts start just consciously stopping myself at the beginning is enough -easier said than done. If you relive it you feel worse in my experience. Writing down my thoughts and feelings in a journal helps - usually I like to destroy the writing which makes me feel better and gives a sense of closure. Finding people to help in the community takes me away from myself. Exercise is fantastic for dealing with emotional pain - if I am finding it tough going for a brisk walk or run really helps me clear my head. Vitamin D can help as well with depression.

What you call 'Post Traumatic Stress' is simply feeling sad after a rotten experience. Plenty of English blokes got it after WW1 but they sensibly had a few cocktails at the Savoy Hotel later and felt alright. I advise you to do the same.
Don't worry - there is nothing wrong with you.
Making people feel happy is not a proper goal of any form of medicine; it simply leads to frauds selling quack remedies (Homeopothy etc) to the gullible.
The cure for depression is activity. The cure for stress is victory. So I advise you to attack.

There is some new research using propranalol in a clinical procedure -- it is promising in reducing the effects of PTSD. Don't know where the clinical is being held except I know the Army is trying it. Prop is a beta-blocker; basically they have you write out your PTSD-related experience and they "relive" it for you while administering the prop. Somehow it rewires your emotions but NOT your memory. You just don't have the reaction to the memory any more. Keep after it--it sounds very promising. My therapist thinks that nitrous oxide may do as well, and he and my MD might try it for me.

Pts cure's are limited-expression's of anger or pity and other release mechanism's take the edge outta bitterness. Higher power org. such as A.A. and many other's work only if you learn to seek higher energy's to add to the search for a universal answer to combat man's animal nature, and if you do find a continuing higher power-it is most likely to be in advanced religious talk to the higher power- the search will land you in this place of tranquillity if you believe in the power of the message.

You may have PTSD and other underlying issues as well. I strongly recommend you seek a mental health professional who can help you. In addition, I also I recommend to seek a special therapist. It's experimental, and it's not for everyone. It's not a substitution for therapy sessions either. For those it helps, it shortens the time needed to heal and recover from such trauma.

I must re-emphasize. Both are experimental and they are not a substitution for therapy. And yes, I have referred patients and colleagues who came back from deployment with PTSD. For some, it works wonderful and cured them 100%, for others, didn't work as well or not at all. It's still worth a try.
