Yes, it's gross to admit, but I don't know any of you so I'm not worried : ) But I mean...should I just let them soak in a bleach solution for awhile then rinse them well and then use soap? And what about the silverware? Because the silverware can't be put with any bleach.

Forget about bleach, all you need is hot water, an antibacterial washing liquid and a sponge with scourer.

Leave the dishes to soak in very hot water alone, so any encrusted food will soften, after 1/2 hour wash the dishes with the scourer and soap. Do the same with the silverware, but use the sponge side so as not to scratch it.

Some people just leave a dish pan full of water and bleach to sit.

I use DAWN dish soap it the best one out there
I use hard bristile brush for the tought spots.

For pans. I soak it in the hottest water running let it sit for 5 mins pour a couple of drops and it comes off easily.

You can add a touch of bleach the water in order to get better cleaning and kill grams.

Have you tried just soaking them in hot water alone? Maybe add a bit of soap to the mix, but if you let it soak a couple of days, everything should come off fairly easily with a bit of scrubbing. You don't want to eat bleach.

Just soak them in really hot water with some dish detergent.

I don't think you need to soak too long. An hour or so. If still dirty, repeat the whole process with very hot water again.

I really don't understand how you can let your dishes sit for weeks. Isn't it easier to wash everytime rather than to pile up?

My mother always told me that if I didn't have time to wash my dishes right away to - at the very least run water in them with a bit of soap and when you have the time, then they will be so much easier to clean.
I have gotter busy for a day or two and had to let dishes sit in the sink, but ALWAYS WITH WATER IN THE DISHES. Makes it so much easier to clean up when I have the time.
Good luck with your situation.

Just use Dawn foaming dish soap and run a sink of that with HOT water and I put baking soda in pans and sink water it cleans and stops smell. When they are ready to wash I let water drain and wash one dish at a time with soapy sponge and running water. Just do one load at a time.

soak them in hot soapy water to loosen the particles. rinse them, then washe them by hand with a gentle soap and genlte brush. the grime will come off. the bad thing about leaving them is the rodents and bacteria you attracted and put into your kitchen, not the state of the plates.
