well i ordered my very first build last week. And well only a couple had arrived today which was the psu, case, mobo. I wanted to test the fans and psu so i connected it to the mobo. I connected the mobo to the case/psu but the mobo did not include any screws but the case did. So i used the screw but i didnt know at the time that i was suppose to use the golden risers i thought i could use them as the screws. So i placed the mobo on the case. Am i screwed? IM really scared and i wont really know until i get the rest of my stuff tomorrow. THe case is ... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811208009 oh and i also had to hold it from the bottom because the anti static bag was tight but i did ground myself before i did

No real way to tell till rest of kit arrives.
A motherboard won't do anything without a processor fitted.
Also DID you POWER it on, or simply connect it, if not actually powered on it should be OK.

Install spacers, fit board according to manual's directions.
then install MEMORY and PROCESSOR and VIDEO (if sep card) and test at THAT POINT

Then add in drives and other cards testing a few times along the way.

Just mount the otherboard correctly. Don't power up anything to "test", unless you have a CPU and RAM installed. The motherboard won't even work unless there is at least a CPU installed.

Unless you bent or cracked the motherboard, don't fret too much. I usually miss a few screws in purpose. BUT, if you install a "stand-off", then be sure to use a screw there. The screws have little felt washers that are suppose to be installed also, but I don't use them too much.

You can test the fans and case if you want, but just don't plug in the motherboard till the CPU and RAM is installed. Even with those two installed, you can't get far without a video card to see what is going on. At least you will know that the CPU, motherboard and memory works.

But I would be patient and assemble/test the complete system once the parts get in.

if you didn't use risers good chance alot of pigtails from mobo components shorted out on case, you may be lucky, at least you were trying to observe antistatic proceedure handling, if you standing on carpet you could build up a static charge, you will find out soon enough.
