Hi, I'm thinking about getting a newer cpu for my Acer Aspire 1642WLMI notebook currently i got a Intel Pentium M 740 and my chipset is " System Information
Chipset: Intel Mobile 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Memory Controller Hub

Can't be done. Most, if not all, Acer CPUs are soldered into the motherboard and can't be upgraded.

You can only upgrade RAM and the hard drive, that's about it.

If it is a CPU upgrade I would suggest getting details from Acer on your choices of upgrading the processor.

You can go to powerleap.com and run their scan it'll basically provide you with all your system specs and compatible upgrades - processors, graphics cards, ram etc...
