Gay folk are like other folk. we share the same fears prejudices and bias as everyone else. It's strange I know, but people who are the victims of discrimination can and often do practice discrimination themselves.
But it's usually about race and economic status if you ask me.
Sometimes opposites attract! Go out sometime with your gay friends and you might be pleasantly surprised that our similarities are greater than our differences!
P.S. ... the terms are usually Butch and Fem, not girlie and masculine Mary!

i think it depends on how far out of the closet the masculine gay is. sometimes, even though a gay man is not on the "DL," he still maybe uneasy about having the whole world know is sexual orientation. it could be that he is private person or it could be that he wants to avoid stereotypes. whatever the reason, dating a girlie gay man, would be a dead giveaway for them. so, it would be better to date someone who is just as undectable as they are, i.e. a more masculine man.

I'm a gay masculine guy and don't hate gay girly guys. I like all gays no matter what they act like- we are humans. I choose not to date feminie men because it reminds me to much of females. If I wanted to date a female I would, but I don't. Some are more extreme than others. Thats my opinion

It may not be because they are a stereotype, the person just may not be into that type of thing. I personally am not into the flamboyantly gay type, but I still like some feminism. So really, I think it's just a matter of persona preference.

as with any stereotype, there are always exceptions. I am somewhat androgynous, and I prefer guys who are the same. But everyone is different.

This is a complex question, hate them? Rarely does this appear to be the case, some do think it reinforces stereotypes and I don't condone this but I can understand why people who push stereotypes would be concerning for a public image.

Saying that, many gay men are not attracted to feminine males (Myself included) because being gay is attraction to masculine, not feminine. This is a person preference and I don't judge people who are into feminine as it is simply what they prefer.

Yes, both types hate the opposite sex and think that the other type give gayness a bad name.
