SCHIP was designed for median income families above the poverty line by a bipartisan effort between Congress and The President at that time. He keeps trying to say it was designed for children covered by medicare which it wasn't. Does he not understand the legislation or does he want children to not get medical care or does he want their parents to lose their homes to medical bills?

Bush explicitly said his reason for vetoing SCHIP a while back. He said that he was concerned that giving so much money to families would encourage them to leave their private insurance companies. Translation: major corporate supporters of the president would be losing money if he allowed the legislation to pass.

No. On the contrary, he LOVES children.

That's hogwash! I am employed by one of the afterschool programs he designed for the No Child Left Behind law.

All of these children are covered under Medicare...free medical through the State and Federal funding.

It's funny that the second responder thinks liberals hate the economy, when a new deal to expand the war by another 70 Billion dollars is in the works.

Right. What an awful idea that is... to spend money on our own country's children.

Bush is actually a decent person. His problem is that he listens to politicians in his cabinet that are old school. Cheney,Ashcroft etc etc. Colin Powell told him exactly what would happen if he went into Iraq. They didn't listen to him so he stepped down. Bush has no concept of what average American go through except for what he is told.

Don't forget the billion approved in that bill to fight Mexico's drug war. Apparently the cartels are hindering the maquiladora's profits. My heart bleeds for those poor corporations...lol...
