In a perfect world, people would keep their hands off things that don't belong to them.
Unfortunately, this is not a perfect world and, as such, men AND women are sleeping with other people's spouses.
It is disrespectful to the spouse of your lover, it is disrespectful to your lover and, if you stop to think about the problems down the road, you will realize that it ruins your own self-respect.
Marriage seems to mean nothing to some people anymore. Boundries are crossed everyday and innocent people are hurt. This cannot be taken back. "I'm sorry" is cold comfort when you have devastated another person's life and taken from them the one person in the world they counted on the most to love them unconditionally.
I know a lot of people would give excuses, like the wife wasn't happy, wasn't getting what she needed/wanted at home but, those are just lame cop-outs for selfish people who demand instant gratification, no matter who they hurt.
Don't do it. The life you save, and the dignity, may be your own.

Yes. It's not just a "norm", it's also common knowledge. Unfortunately, these days people are ignorant and inconsiderate of the meaning of marriage so they'll sleep with whomever.

Technically, I sleep with a married woman (my wife), but generally speaking, most people do not sleep with a married woman

Husbands are definitely territorial and you might get hurt. But as far as some men are concerned (married and single); they do not care if the woman is married or not as long as she is hot... in fact, they might prefer it for the no obligation lay.

Whether it's a "norm" (whatever that may be) doesn't matter. You can't influence what other people do. And only you can decide what you want to do.
