It came via a trade during last years NFL draft. The 49ers traded them their first round pick from this year for the Patriots first rounder last year. The 49ers used it to draft RT Joe Staley...who isn't even playing very well. Stupid trade by the 49ers, they are just sick of being horrible and tried turning it around in one year...didn't work out very well for them.

The probable answer is the Patriots traded a player to another team and were paid with the other team's first round high draft pick. Has nothing to do with the won/lost record.

Probably through a trade they might have made with someone. A lot of times if teams still have roster room they'll give another team their pick in the upcoming draft to get a certain player.

If you are going to "punish" someone by taking a draft choice wouldn't it make sense to specify that it be the best draft choice they have in the specified round, regardless of where it came from?
This is just ridiculous!

why might the pats prefer tebow? first of all, they have tom brady and 2nd, tebow is a gadget QB. i dont think of he would be that stable of a expert. his kind could artwork in college against little ones yet against grown adult adult males, he will fail. you cant try this decision crap or QB sneak up the midsection contained in the nfl. as for draft place, mocks have him everywhere. some think of he's a precise 10 guy some think of he's a 2d rounder. human beings have various comments. and that i think of that's ok for a GM to call a coach and ask with regard to the participant.

One, it's a mock draft, so it's probably not real.
If it is, they probably traded a player to the Miami Dolphins and won the high draft pick choice for next year.
