Does it come in one thickness? We are going to have to redo our very very tiny bathroom after I decided the wallpaper and ugly "paneling" needed to come down. The "paneling" is some kind of laminate stuff heavily glued to the drywall! This bathroom is very tiny, say 7 foot long and 3/4 feet wide...sink and toilet is it. I don't have any room to lose therefore am wondering if they make really thin drywall or if it only comes in one size?

3-4 feet wide not 3/4!!
And I do NOT want to replace with any sort of paneling, I want to paint only. All the existing drywall has to be torn down first? UGH! Should have left the ugly wallpaper lol

3/8 is the thinnest drywall made after that it goes to 1/2 and finally 5/8

Some valid answers here, obviously you've learned of the barious thicknesses and lengths.
4 x 8 x 1/2 sheets cut to size would do well in your bath, installed horizontally with whatever cut you have to take off the 8 ft. If you can remove the sink and toilet, then reset, the install will be that much easier
I'll just add my two cents after thousands of sq. ft. of drywall installed.
2 cents: for what it's worth. This 1/2 bath won't need concrete backer board on the studs unless you intend tile; BUT I would advise GREEBOARD as opposed to reg. drywall.

In the bathroom you will need to use water resistant Sheetrock which is green in color. The only thickness that it comes in is 1/2". For the other rooms in the house they make 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" and 5/8" thick sheet rock. The 1/4" is normally used for arches and other areas where you have a curved shape. I would not use it on a wall or ceiling. Also the 1/4" is usually appreciably higher in cost.

You can get either 3/8 or 1/4 drywall, but it is hard to find. Just remember that the thinner you go, the easier it will be to put elbows or hands through. If you put in drywall this thin, you will not be able to put tile on the walls since it will not support the weight. You should be able to go to lowe's or Home depot and ask about what sizes they have. Hope this helps.

Yes, you can buy different sized drywall...but consider a couple of things...when you add thickness to a wall in a room like a bathroom, things like your sink, and toilet might not fit back in the right place. (it happened to me when I tiled my bathroom...and I had to cut a new waste hole in the floor, because my toilet no longer fit.) Best advice, is scrape all of the glue off that you can, and call a drywaller that will "skim coat" your exsisting walls. (He will put a thin layer of spackle over your entire wall...and sand it until it's smooth. about $150. If you hang your own drywall...pay someone to spackle, and sand it (if you have never done it) because what looks smooth unpainted will look terrible painted. If you have the room behind your toilet...tile it! It's not hard, you can tile over what you have now, it will increase the value of your house $5000-$10,000, and can be done for $500.

you can get it in 1/4" 1/2" and 5/8" if it was me, i would take of the wallpaper and old paneling. texture the walls and paint them. texture is really cheap and easy to do. here is how...
just buy some premixxed joint compound, 1 big bucket should be plenty. $12.
a crows foot brush. $8
2 gallons of paint. the color your going to paint with.$30
mix the paint, some water, and joint compound together a little at a time. you wont need it all. maybe 1/4 of it. by mixxing the paint in with the joint compound,when your finished, you only have to paint one coat. you want the mix to be a little thinner than cake batter. then you just dip the crows foot in the mixture and dab it on the walls. be sure to mix the mix really good. no lumps. if the texture stands out on the wall to far, just add more water. it really is easier than it sounds. and it looks great when finished. beats hanging sheetrock.

Drywall can be found as thin as 1/4 in, why not just hang over existing drywall,its a lot easier.

1/2" Drywall is the thinest you can get. Depending on how okd your home is and what type of home it is usually there is 3/4" drywall running throughout the house, but in some circumstances there will be 1/2"
